F350 rumbling noise.. 0_o

Hey guys

2004 F350 SRW PSD

First post here. whenever im at a light. Or in traffic. Truck is in drive and I hit the brakes and it starts rumbling.kind of a thumping noise. You can feel it in the pedal. In the floor by the center console. And hear it in the passenger floor. As soon as you put it in neutral, it goes away. Left turns also cause the noise..

what the the heck is causing it? Booster? Stopped up line? Transmission problem?

Thanks in in advance for the help!

I would check the front hub assemblies and front axle joints first. Lift the truck to get the pressure off of them. Also while it's up in air make sure you're front drive shaft is not partially engaged.

It has manual locking hubs. Check to see if they are locked I’m guessing is what your are saying Mike? The shaft spins freely going into hub on both sides so I’m thinking it’s unlocked. Have also turned to lock hubs and shaft then doesn’t spin.

I was actually talking about your front shaft from transfer case. Want to make sure it wasn't partially engaged, but good call on the lockouts.

Just checked everything on front diff and transfer case. Seems to be good. I’m puzzled as to the cause.

Butttttttt

Got new tires today. Went ahead and put new pads on also. Rotors were good. So we will see how it does on the way to work tomorrow! Will let you know.

So I guess you checked the hub assemblies while it was in the air and they didn't have slop and they spun smooth ? Hopefully it was pads or tires causing it.
