Cruise dropping out seemingly randomly

Hi Everyone, long time no post - my intelligence has been captured by Facebook!

My Effie is still going strong and a pleasure to drive. I've been doing trips to the snow fields.

Every trip the truck will be cruising along on CC and it just drops out for apparently no reason.

No unexpected codes on the Edge scanner. Could it be something random like a bad connection on the high brake light bulb?

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Hey Simon, check the TBL (Third Brake light) or the connection, blown / corroded .
Have you fitted LED tail lights , that seems to cancel and cause problems with the CC .
Good luck.

Thanks Blue.

No brake light LED, but I've fitted LEDs in the white tub-lights.

I'll remove the fitting and clean the bulb & connectors and see how I go.

I'm loving the projectors. Just have 55w halogen bulbs in the low beams -even that is 1000% better than stock. And when the high beams come on, which are high-efficiency LED bulbs (complete with a cooling fan in the bulb base) the light output is astounding. I can barely tell when I through on the 35W HID Cibie driiving lamps.

Sadly I'm not using the truck very much having finished all the renno's & don't even have it registered ATM. So much so that I'm thinking of selling it.

Even if you have fitted LED tail /rear lights that could cause your problem.

Any time you press the brake pedal it cancels cruise. TBL is known to leak and get some corrosion in it causing a (short) and acts like the light is on (brake pedal pushed).

Glad your happy with the new Projectors , shame your thinking of selling though!

Hi Travn, the high brake light on the back of the roof above the rear window. If the bulb contacts are dirty it can result in CC dropping out.

Hi,
I have a Tekonsha electronic brake controller/actuator for when towing a trailer with electric/hydraulic brakes. It has a loose internal connection that flickers the brake light off on from time to time. It causes my cruise to go off when it happens. Just thought I'd mention it in case you have a similar prob?

Cheers
