85 f250 7.3 diesel

So I recently bought this truck which Has an aftermarket 7.3 and I ruined the rear end and I'm trying to figure out what kind of rear end goes will fit it also has a 5 speed ,transfer case ,clutch from a 92 im new to diesel so please help

rear end, like the rear differential? cause the ones that came with your truck factory would have been the ford 10.25 or dana 70. and depending on what broke, you might be able to replace just that part.

First you need to find out which brand of axle it has. 1985 was a transition year. If the diff cover has a fill plug, it's a Dana. If there's a fill plug on the diff case itself, it's a Sterling.

Next you need to find out the gear ratio. There may be a tag on one of the diff cover bolts. There's also an AXLE code on the door jamb sticker.

Same driveline as the big-block gassers, BTW, so don't worry about the "new to diesels" part. Doesn't apply here.
