trans range sensor removal, 2002 superduty diesel

how does this come off? i removed the two 8 mm bolts and tried prying it off with a screwdriver, but it will not budge.
all the videos i see are for the E4OD trans with the the sensor under the shift arm.

i don't want to get crazy prying on it if there is a step i am missing.

As I recall the E4OD and 4R100 are exactly the same in the TRS mounting.

Did you remove the nut and the shift lever on the end of the shaft? If not, that's your problem. If you did, then the TRS is rusted to the shaft. Pry, hit, do whatever to get it off. Some good rust penetrant will help. WD40 is not a rust penetrant.

E4OD has a nut holding the TRS on under the shift lever. the 4R100 has the TRS over the shift lever and 2 8mm bolts holding it to the case.

i figured it was just a pry it off deal, but wa snot sure if there was a snap ring i was not seeing on the shaft.
thanks Mark, like normal you have balled me out of a trans quandary again..

and i use PB Blaster or Zap penetrating oil. wd40 is only used for drying out wet distributors.

took 4 hours to get it swapped out. had to cut it off with a die grinder. then polish the shaft to get the new one on.
the trans now shifts with one finger.

so am i Mark, and the repair was A LOT cheaper than i planned on. $57 for the new motorcraft sensor off amazon.com instead of a $2,500 trans rebuild.
