Need a Guess at Hitch Capacity

This trailer hitch is on a 1986 F-350 dually at the wrecking yard. It is well made and available for $35 if I pull it. The label is long gone so I don't know what the towing rating is.

I am hoping someone recognizes it and can tell me the towing capacity is.

Thank You

Thanks. 10,000 is what I was hoping to hear. Hopefully the forklift guy re-positioned the supports like he said he would so I can remove it.

Given that it was on a dually I would expect it to be a decent hitch.

I would get new bolts/washers and nuts for it, grade 8.

I would make the same assumption too.

I like the extra thick grade 8 washers.

Would you recommend lock washers, nylock nuts or thread locker.

lock washers and thread locker.

I would torque them down, wait a week and re-torque again.

I believe the hitch to be a reese. Max tongue weight is gonna be 1K.

80 Ft lbs on all bolts.

Wouldn't that break the thread locker?

You know you are right! Delete the re-torque advice.

Red locker for sure. Blue? I bet it would release.

The factory used blue thread locker on the Excursion hitch bolts for sure, probably the same on the SD pickups.
My new Torklift SuperHitch 20K that has a 2000lb tongue weight rating used Grade 8 hardware with lock washers and standard nuts that were torqued to 80 ft/lbs.

Wouldn't mind finding a Torklift SuperHitch in the wrecking yard.

This is what is left of the label. I bet somebody recognizes the trace of the logo.

Logo on yard find tow hitch.

As long as everything is new and or very clean blue will work just fine. I rarely ever use red anymore, unless I Absolutely Positively don't want to take it back off. Ditto on the no retorque when using locktight.

jetjockey99 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Sticker, what's left of it looks like a U-Haul. I use grade 8 bolts and washers on all my hitches and grade 8 self locking nuts, no LockTite and check torque every year.
