Now that I know more about this sort of thing I have a question.

Is the 10K with load distribution or without?

On my half ton truck's OEM hitch the 10K was only with WDH.

All,
I'm in agreement for clean, yellow zinc plating/coated, Grade 8 bolts with a Grade 8 flat washer, one at bolt head and one at nut end, with Grade 8 spring-lock or split-locking washers and standard nuts. Blue thread locker is optional, but not required. Red loctite may require heat to remove. To assist in the corrosion-resistance, twice a year I use a hand sprayer to dampen the hitch connectors with diesel oil (fuel oil); to keep the rust to a minimum..... It works for me - 'your mileage may vary'.

Thanks, it's been a great rig for our family, it is our dedicated tow rig for our big TT.
I agree with your hardware suggestions.

Yeah, typically OEM hitches only meet the higher weight ratings when a WD hitch is used.
