'86 460 Electric to Mechanical Fuel Pumps

Has anyone had any luck getting rid of the electric fuel pumps on their carb 460 and going to a mechanical one? I've had just about enough chasing electrical problems with mine, but before I tear them out I want to make sure I'm not setting myself up for vapor lock problems. I assume the cam still has the eccentric for the pump, can anyone confirm?
Thanks.

FYI when liquid is put under PSI like with the electric pump it raises the boiling point.

Put it under a vacuum like with the mechanical pump and it lowers the boiling point.

To help with this some what the bypass some fuel on the PSI side so fuel is always flowing on the suction side to keep it from boiling.

This did not always work so take it for what it is worth.

Can't help on the cam.

I know on the fuel injected engines, they had the eccentric on the camshaft sprocket,, but it was not the two piece type like with the mechanical fuel pumps, it was just the one center eccentric piece, they were just using like a big washer. The early mechanical fuel pump eccentrics where two piece, the center eccentric and a outer ring that rotated on the eccentric. So the eccentric really did not rub on the fuel pump arm, the outer piece of the eccentric did the rubbing on the center eccentric.

It looks like the 80 to 87 still had the offsets on the cam.
Hope this helps.
