Retrofit pcv valve?

Have an oil consumption problem on my 2005 super crew with the 5.4 3v. It has 155k miles and has always used a quart or two between oil changes (since 135k when I purchased).

I recently did the full timing set, phases, upgraded oil pump and new valve lash adjusters. Had a rattle which was caused by a failed tensioner. I had read up on the pcv system and hosed both valve cover passages and tubes out with wd-40 brakekleen and then compressed air. In the 4k since doing the work I have used 3 quarts of oil. Wondering if I damaged something in the drivers valve cover pcv hole (don't see how if it's a metered orifice).

also there was a lot of oil in the intake. I'm wondering if the pcv system is passing too much oil. Anyone gutted the driver's side and retrofitted a pcv valve? The owners manual says to check pcv flow at 150k but doesn't say how. FWIW the engine was very clean inside
