Front bumper woes
g4g2g7 and Fords & Whalers.
jackpot here: Guys, here goes- I have been on the phone with both, LMC Truck and Auto Metal Direct today. Recently I have purchased bumpers from both suppliers.
First: LMC Truck- I tried their bumper on my truck after after a few days short of a year. It came time to install and I did not like the fit. Called them then, and they said send it back and we will credit your credit card account the full amount of cost. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Love those guys. Called them today for a further explanation of their bumper form and was told by a knowledgeable lady that NONE of their bumpers conformed to the OE qualifications.Did I say I love those ladies and gentlemen.
Second: Auto Metal Direct (thru CARID) Could not get them to say if their bumpers met the OE qualifications and they flat refuse to allow me to return their bumper for a refund. Now, the large photos above of the green truck (which is mine), is their bumper on my truck. Is that an OE fit? I'll let you decide.
Number Dummy , way back in this thread, explained how this mix up of aftermarket bumper shapes happened.
Could someone tell me how to reduce the size of the photo attachments.

I'd say if you are talking about the pic in your first post on this thread, that by looking at the picture yes it is a factory fit. But the problem with the repro bumpers is not with the end as viewed from the side it is the front looking from one side to the other. The repro bumpers are straighter than the 61 to 66 bumpers were, therefor the repro bumpers fit well in the center but when you get out to the ends there is a 2 inch gap between the bumper and the lower valance. This cannot be seen on the picture you posted.

it looks like they got the vertical cut on the end and the depth of the contour along the front edge better than most replacement bumpers for our trucks but they still left it too flat across the front...if they would have just curved it some along the entire length side to side it would have been much better it seems. It also looks like the edges are not finished very cleanly/evenly either. I definitely get your angst with that one!

I agree that the radius on this bumper is a little too long. It doesn't seem to follow the same plane as the gravel shield.
In my opinion the finish of the edges really could be typical of an original bumper though- some of them were not really that great. I wonder if ND would agree on this observation.
