Dash color: which argent paint?

Somehow before I started this project, I had a rattle can of Rustoleum argent hammered-finish in the shop. I just used it on the FORD box heater and it looks great. I was wondering in a stock rebuild if the same argent paint is the right one for the speaker grill, ashtray & glove box? In other words: hammered or smooth? It's a 52 F1 5 star extra cab.

Thanks!

John

Only the heater boxes had hammered finish, as I understand. Firstrider, or another smart person, will be able to confirm.

I believe DW is correct. In the 1948-50 Ford trucks with the fresh-air heaters, the script heater core box along with the heater control bracket were painted hammertone silver-gray.

On the 51 and 52 trucks, I believe the heater control bracket, which is of a different style from the earlier trucks, was black.

I used DupliColor Truck, Van, and SUV rattle can #T154W Light Slate (M), it matched very well the original paint still in good shape on mine. Neither real glossy nor matte finish, just right IMO. Ignore the gaping hole the PO left me...

Thanks for the info Ross. I tried searching for that spray can but I guess Duplicolor renumbered their paints since then? The closest I can find is a new number with similar description:
Duplicolor BGM0540: Perfect Match Touch-Up Paint Light Slate | JEGS

For a reasonable price, the googling I did with your keywords also dug this up:

Has anyone tried it by chance?

Thanks!

Yes, I tried it. I got it at the local Ford dealership. I had to order it and it was there in a couple of days. It was cheaper than what is listed by Dearborn.

It is the real deal. It is a perfect match for the argent. I was using a Dupli-Color argent silver which was pretty close but this was better. I looked at a glove box hinge and the ashtray bracket to seeThe true color of the original argent as these things didnot see sunlight.
