To those who claim that ICE powered vehicle will be phased out and become obsolete due to electric vehicles, let me ask you this:

By the 1970's many, many locomotives were strictly electric. They didn't need batteries as they had dedicated powerlines for themselves. Should be the best, right? The only downfall we hear about electric cars is battery life.

If this is the case, why did diesel electric locomotives take over the railroad?

ICE's are here to stay for a LONG time.

I'll probably hang on to the steering wheel of my truck about as tight as the stock of my rifle. My 2 cents.

Yeah there's definitely a case for ICE vehicles, especially with reduced emissions and modern technology.

I can't see them going away any time soon, mainly for industrial reasons - hauling goods, long distance, infrastructure to support them.

Hey members, when I started this thread I did not mean to hijack
any other members thread. I only wanted to make everyone
aware of what could happen. In my old age I remember the Fed's.
offering money to anyone scrapping an old gas guzzler. That got rid
of a lot old cars and trucks. How about the gas guzzler tax? Could
be applied to old cars. Just wanted to make you stay on your toes
cause they have "WAYS". I love the feel and sounds of my 13 MPG
360, and want the grand kids to feel it to.

Now that sounds like fun.

Solar panel technology is advancing along quite well. I am sure we will have tonneau covers that juice up the batteries where ever we are. Wouldn't that be nice to just get in and go? Never be out hunting and run out of gas? We adapt and improve anything that comes along.

Eventually, an electric motor will be able to roll the tires over easily. I look forward to transplanting one in a dent at some point.
YES! I am an OUTLAW, specially when it comes to those commie controlling *******s!

I like this perspective. I had the same viewpoint in a conversation I had with someone recently. I will gladly put an electric motor in my pickup when it becomes possible and affordable. I give it 10-15 years. I'll miss the sound, but it's still a dent! I'll get a loud speaker or something.

Truer words were never said. I'm holding on to my old Valiant and F350 so my daughter can grow up with them. Hopefully they'll be around and viable to operate for a while yet.

I remember a science fiction novel as a kid that had a group of thugs who snuck up on the main character and then engaged the engine noise on their electric bikes / cars. Cool concept and super-futuristic at the time... now not that far away!
