Vin location on 1973 F100 4x4

Hello, so I see there is a vin plate on the drivers door. Are there any other vin numbers, stamps on the cab it self?? My drivers door is totaled and I need to replace the door. My tag is still good. The replacement door has a vin on it. Was Ford really this dumb and only put it on the door??? So how do I put my tag back on the new door???

You are saying door, I am saying jam. You are asking if there is one on the cab, I am saying jam.

Sorry not being ****ty just can't believe ford thought a sticker would last a life time. My sticker is long gone!. Was hoping there was a tag like Chevy uses so I can swap out this door. New to this site. Havent had a Ford truck in 35 years. Just got this one to restore like the one I had as a kid back in 79.

There are Vehicle Identification numbers on the frame, but are hard to get to so I hear.

Does your state have a DOT that you can call and ask what to do before you remove the door? Nothing is impossible

So I hear there are different frame widths also? Want to put my 1973 f100 4x4 short bed cab on a 79 f250 long bed 4x4 chassis. And use the long bed from the 79 will this work??

Ah, California.

I am pretty sure the '79 frame is wider, someone will chime in.

Legally, the vin is the frame, so you would need to smog it even if it had a 73 cab on it. But who is to know?

The vi# on the paper title is stamped on 2 places ON THE FRAME. The Warranty Plate is what is riveted to the dvrs side door, on the edge. And it also has the vi#. It is NOT the vin plate, like on new vehicles on the dash.

The Safety Certification Sticker is what is on the B pillar by the door striker. New stickers and Warranty plates and the rivets can be acquired from Marti Auto works.

Marti Auto Works - Concourse Quality, Hobbyist Price

Vi is stamped on 2wd in line with the Alt. On 4wd in line with exhaust manifolds area. And on both under the fwd seat mount bolt area on the passenger side. ON top of the frame, VERY hard to see.

Need a new door for the dvrs side, just drill out the rivets, take the warranty plate off the old door and transfer it to your new door.

So can anyone confirm the frame widths? Going from a 1973 f100 4x4 short bed to a 1978 f250 4x4 long bed .
