CB use has gone way down in the last 10 years. For the most part professional drivers only use them for communicating with a facility that they are getting loaded or unlaoded at.

I have one in my pickup and if you ask there are still a few people out there willing to give directions or traffic reports. I drive in a small convoy once a week all summer and we use them all the time

Thanks HouseMouse and Geno C; I was thinking use has decreased. That's too bad because it was nice getting heads up on traffic jams, road debris, etc.

I dont have any pictures at the moment, but I put the radio in the driver side pocket of the console. Like Metal Twister, I have a Wilson magnet mount with a 6' whip on the back of the cab.

Since you have a '16 Lariat you no doubt have the full console with the deep storage compartment. I mounted my Cobra CB inside the compartment on an "L" shaped wooden bracket. The bracket sits in the compartment, no holes drilled into the truck anywhere. It's completely out of sight. When I travel I simply turn it on and place the mike outside the console. I close the lid and I'm good to go.
I mounted a good antenna on in the same position as the regular radio antenna, except on the drivers side. Took a little finagling but it works great.

As for the question about how much traffic there is on the CB these days.....not nearly as much as there was 20+ years ago. But that's a good thing. Personally, when we travel (pulling our fifth wheel camper) I always have my CB on. I rarely talk on it but it has saved me many times when there is an incident on the highway. I know well in advance which lane is closed or if the traffic is backed up, etc. I don't worry about smokey reports but knowing about other roadway hazards is great. I also travel with a police scanner (where legal). Don't use that so much now a days due to all the new digital/encrypted systems the police are using now. But many turnpikes still use the older radio systems. Lots of highway info there also.

Good to know someone is still using them. Maybe I'll dust mine off for the summer vacation trips. Sometimes truck drivers got nasty with each other but mostly just helped each other.
