F359 7.3l superduty losing power on accelerator

This has happened several times now and it is getting more frequent. Basically when your foot is off the throttle the the truck seems to be idling fine either coasting or sitting at a stop light. Then when you give it a shot on the accelerator nothing happens. It is as if it was not even connected. Take your foot off and try again and it will go, or perhaps it might take a third try to get it to go. Other than the intermittent problem she works perfectly fine. She starts easy, runs smooth. It has always been lacking power on hills since we owned it but its never been a huge issue for us but there may have been an underlying problem that is now showing in other ways.

What year is your truck? We have a sub forum that maybe better suiting to engine related issues. I can move this to that location once you let me know.

The Accelerator Pedal has two Electronic Sensors which provide input to the PCM.

The Idle Validation Switch (IVS): Which is either on / off. It should have 0 vdc at idle, 12 volts off idle. (off/on).

The Accelerator Pedal (AP): Which is a Potentiometer. As a contact sweeps the resistor, the current is increased. That resistance determines the amount of RPM the Engine raises or lowers. it's on the 5 Volt Reference Circuit, 0.5-0.7 vdc at idle, 4.5 vdc at WOT.

Both can be checked using a DVM set to DC Volts by Back-Probing the Connectors.

This is especially helpful to determine if there are "Dead Area's" in the Resistor Board which bets Swiped by the Contact. This test can be performed with the Key in the On Position and Engine Off (KOEO).

Another check, is the Wiring Harness, especially the Connections which can become corroded due to humidity changes over the years.
