Morning folks. Definitely a Monday here, and no boss so my life is getting compounded by the moment. And tomorrow AM I have a material run to make...

Bill, same problem here, I was in late, and no supervisor, so the kids were wandering aimlessly until I got here.

Good Morning!

Picked up a load of what I suspect is black locust wood last night. That stuff is hard to split or I just don't have the proper tool to be splitting it!

Been thinking about a 5 ton electric log splitter since I'm not a serious user so can't justify the gas big boys. Anyone have any experience?

Cody, if it is locust I would highly recommend renting a gas one. I use to heat my old house with wood and when I was cutting log loads, I rented a 30 ton splitter. I was burning mostly hard maple, hickory, beech and ash. There were times that the splitter had a tough time powering throw some of the really knotty stuff. Locust is a hard wood and I believe that it is similar to walnut and needs about a year to fully cure.

Morning folks, happy Taco Tuesday - except I think the one vendor we use is bringing us pizza instead. Just got in from delivering material to down in Somerset Co. - glad it was just stuff that fit in the bed, because there were some real turkey paths to negotiate down there...

Morning Bill. Is that the nice way of saying that it was twisty and tough driving?

The roads just kept getting smaller and more narrow, so yeah I guess you can say that. Amazing what roads PADOT has jurisdiction over and what they're spending money on to replace structures. I would have been in trouble if I had to pull a trailer in there.
