89f150 4.9 to 5.0 swap

Hey guys.
I have a 89 f150 4.9 5 speed
Just pulled the 5.0 from a 1990 f150 with an auto.
I know I need to get a new flywheel and clutch for the 5.0 to work with the 4.9.

What else do I need from the parts truck to make the 5.0 run? Just the pcm? Or do I need the truck side harness under the hood?

You need the V8 frame towers and engine mounts, and while you could make the I6 rad work with the V8 with some custom hoses why not just use the v8 rad.. the ports are on the opposite sides compared to the I6.
What auto trans was in the '90? You need a 5.0 PCM for a manual or a non computer controlled auto which would be the AOD(trans code T) or C6(trans code K).

The 5.0 had an AOD behind it.

And I saved the rad from the 5.0 so I'll be using that.

Also wondering if brackets from a mustang 5.0 would be the same as the truck 5.0.
Smog delete bracket and power steering pump bracket without AC

I used the Motorsports air pump delete bracket and pulley on my 302. For my application belt was 1/2" shorter than stock so 90.5"

I wouldn't bother going from the 300 to a 302. I would have jumped right to the 351.

Mustang brackets will bolt on the engine no problem but I don't know if they will line up with the remaining truck brackets.

It's only a reg cab short bed 2wd so not a heavy truck.
I got the whole truck for $400 and I'll make that back between parts and scrap for the rest of the truck so it didn't really cost me anything and it only had 185xxxkilometers on the truck. The only 5.8 I found near by was over 250xxx km wanted more money and a couple hours to go get

if you use the mustang brackets on the truck. you will need to convert everything all the way back to the timing cover. mustang water pump is reverse flow and has a shorter shaft compared to the truck so your pulleys will line up. you may be better off using the stock setup for the truck. if you insist on converting. look at a late 80s early 90s crown vic. it uses 2 serpentine belts. 1 on the L side for alt / PS pump and 1 on the R side for AC / pollution pump. you would just need the L bracket with Alt and PS pump / water pump / pulleys / fan. your timing cover will work with the crown vic pump.

The Mustang air pump delete is a direct bolt on part. I do not know about the a/c delete. I used one off a truck and am not sure if it is the same part number.

Understand your using the parts truck. When the 302 died in my Bronco I swapped in a 392. It sure is fun!
