Engine tag Found!!! Need help deciphering

As I said the only original engines I ever seen the tall pent roof valve covers on where 427's.
The Galaxie had been worked on but the owner was meticulous about keeping it as original as possible.
The Mercury was a low mile original with one spinner hub cap missing and a cigarette lighter burn mark in the seat. that was years ago and they only wanted $2500 for the car, I was young and dumb and thought the car looked ugly, the engine, T10 and 3.89's where worth more than that even back then.
I've kicked myself more than once for not buying it.
Google pentroof valve covers. Tony D Branda has reproductions with and without the holes.

1963 1/2 & 1964 427's used the same rounded valve covers as the 1962/63 406's.

The only two original cars I've seen with the tall chrome pent roof covers that didn't have holes where a 63 1/2 427 equipped Galaxie and a 63 1/3 427 equipped Mercury Marauder.
I'm assuming they where only used for 63 1/2 - 64, as your pic shows 65 - 68 had holes.
I have come across two period photos of HM 1964 Grand National Cars showing these covers being discussed.
Everyone just kind of raise up, pull the bunch out of your drawers and I will be back after an old man nap.
1965/ production shown below - (The Blue MERC will be 1966)

1965: Black engine with gold valve covers: F100/350 352.
1952/65: Ford painted the valve covers different colors, as this was their method for identifying engine sizes for garages/body shops.
But the problem was, some truck valve covers were painted the same colors as Passenger Cars, but for completely different engines.
1965: Black engine with gold valve covers: Ford Passenger Car 289 2V
1966 did away with this nonsense, as all engines were painted Ford Corporate Blue including the valve covers.
