Miles to oil change when towing?
For anyone towing heavy 100 % of the time on an oil change, how many miles can you tow on the 6.7 diesel before the oil change light comes on? I really don't like surprises, and I know that it varies some, but a ballpark will help in planning.
I'm still on my first long tow, and at about 4000 miles towing from the east into the Rockies. I have to say that I liked my old Duramax info display that told me where I stood in terms of percentage until next oil change.

I change every 8k miles. I have just crossed the 100k and runs like a bear. I used Blackstone labs and every time I sent in a sample came back go another 5m and that went on for two years so I then found the point at 8k I felt comfortable. 5k was to soon and 10k wasn't giving me a warm fuzzy feeling. And she purrs like a kitten.

Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor,
I did some digging.. I did not know this type of monitor was around...
I found out.. it does not look/See the oil..
so
it does not see any dust passing the air filter
it does not see any moisture in the oil
it does not see any anti-freeze leakage past seals and gaskets.
it does not see any deposits that get past the compression rings and oil control rings.
it does not see any deposits from friction and metal wear.
so it does not monitor the damaging items that might enter the oil
my opinion,, an is worth what you paid for it...
above is true for Ford and GM...
its just a use database. over years of research. NOT YOUR ENGINE.
flame "ON".
