i have an 85 f250 with a 460 and a 4spd, the shifter can rotate and touch the steerin collum almost or touch the glove box. bcuz it rotates it can be hard to find first gear. i have to grab the shifter with both hands put it as far left as i can get it and then i have to move the shifter to where it is angled differently so i can get it in first. once its angled i itll go in fine but if i dont do it just acts like 3rd is in the same spot as 1st.
its a T19 i believe

 

I have a 70 f250 and there is a part that the shifter goes in and soon that goes I to it. If your TWO is anything like the T18 I have you will need replace the list piece and you probably will have to go to a junk yard to get the top pies of the transmission that you will need
