To anyone who thinks the 5.0 can't haul.

To anyone who thinks the 5.0 can't haul.
I recently started renting a barn to keep my stuff in (ie my old jeep, my dirtbikes, quads, sleds, etc...). I had a bunch of junk to haul down there, mostly plywood, and some concrete blocks. All in all the bed was full and there was full. It's about a 20km drive on back roads. Truck handled this great and had no problem holding 55mph on a hilly road with cruise on. I got to the farm and unloaded and realised I had to move my snowmobile trailer that is more of a storage unit than anything, close to 12500 lbs with all the stuff in it. I don't really use it anymore cause the frame is rotting away and its 10+ years old. I hooked it up towed it across the farm parked it and the truck took this great with only a little bit of sag. (Don't worry, this was on private property, if i was to tow it on the road i would take a super-duty from my work). So all in all very impressed with this half ton, truck as i am a die hard diesel guy, and i would recommend the 5.0 to anyone that is in the market.
I know you guys want pics and I just got a new computer and they are coming soon.
Truck specs:
2016 Ford F-150 Supercrew 5,5 bed
3.31 open diff
Towing package but not max tow with TBC installed at the dealer.
80 k km on the truck
No issues as of yet.
Pic in sig.

Cool, glad to hear it's exceeding your expectations.
I don't think anyone ever suggested that the 5.0L V8 couldn't pull well. Just about everyone knows the opposite, it's an incredibly capable powerplant that exceeds the venerable 5.4L V8 in almost every area. It's got a very different torque curve than the EcoBoost engines, but there's nothing wrong with spinning higher revs to make the power.
Besides, both EcoBoost trucks I've owned sounded like angry leafblowers. The 5.0L sounds infinitely better IMHO.

I don't even agree with this statement anymore. I've watched enough videos now of eco boosts pushing 3700 rpm pulling a trailer up a hill then they show a side by side video of v-8s doing the same thing pulling the same amount of weight up the same hill and it's at 3700 rpm too. Im not trying to argue with you. But I've noticed that there is a lot of f150 owners living in some kind of fantasy land. What I'm getting at is I think these two engines are very close in performance from the factory. Now if Ford can only figure out how to keep those door latches working correctly. Haha

Mine certainly has power for days. I'm not afraid of revs though.
I added a 14" magnaflow muffler and chopped off the resonator and it sounds amazing. I have no regrets about choosing it over the EcoBoost. I'll probably own an EB someday, but for now I'm going to enjoy my "archaic" V8. Ford dumped a lot of resources into engineering this engine and it's paid off. Easily one of the best stock V8's ever produced.

The 5.0 is such a good choice for anyone needing a daily driver, a nice cruising truck with good mpg and seat in the pants performance at a flick of the throttle at any speed. Our 2013 seems to hit about the same point towing our pontoon boat as we had with the 5.4 V-8. Works hard enough on highway, but gets the job done and all we have ever needed for occasional towing of the boat. Imagine the 3.5T is a much better tow engine for those doing a lot of towing. Nice that Ford offers the choice of these two very good engines. (Not one problem or even hint of a problem yet - 35,000 miles.)

What he ^^^ says. The 5.0 is way better than Ford's previous V8 offerings but the ecoboost is still the better towing machine. I don't care for a bunch of shifting and the 5.0 shifts way more than the ecoboost. The ecoboost is without a doubt more diesel like.
