New tires - Noise now while accelerating & loss of traction

I put new wheels on my truck today and had General grabber at2 265/70/17 tires installed, had issues finding the correct lug nuts and they used 16 from one brand and 16 from another. Anyhow when they were done they said the alignment wasn't 100% correct because the steering box was off. I asked to drive it and see for myself, I drove a couple blocks and it felt really wonky mainly on turns, going straight is ok. I pulled over and checked the tire pressure they had 72 psi in front and 76 in the rear. I let it out to 62 front and 68 in rear and 80% of the steering issue went away.

So my issue is, under acceleration the tires sound like they are spinning and not making traction alomost a wooshing sound. I let off the gas and they sound fine, press the gas wooshing sound 100% of the time while accelerating. They also sway a bit and the truck feels like a heavy dog. Alot of power is missing somewhere even under full load.

I have a 5 star tuner set to stock wheels and 265/75/16, switched to a 17x9 in wheel and new tires are 265/70/17.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

General.
Tires.
Suck.

seriously. They're garbage. I bought a set on sale and they ride like garbage, are a huge pain to take a balance, and just sound weird. Call the customer help line and they'll tell you you should have gotten more expensive Continental tires.

They do do have a satisfaction guarantee, so if you act fast, call them before the (short) period runs out, they'll take them back. You still get hosed with the install fee, but at least those tires will go where they belong: in the landfill.

I tried airing them down to 55 front and 60 rear. Front handled better but the wooshing is maddening. Just uploaded a video

So it is possible they wheels are actually moving in the tire, a couple other f250 owners had the problem. One was able to replace two and they actually worked out but a couple other guys returned them. My wheels are 17x9 and this is the only tire that fits, could possibly do 285/65/17 Cooper Discoverer At3's but they couldn't find any last time I asked.

I put Grabbers on mine last year to replace worn out Duratracs. They do have a different sound to them and have a "squishy" feel due to the new tread, but that's normal. I have them all at 72 psi.

I wouldn't think the tuner would have any effect, but maybe return it to stock and drive it just to eliminate that.

Maybe also rotate the tires front to back to see if there's a difference. It's possible that one or more tires is simply defective.

Glad I read this, I came here looking for info on what tire to buy for my F250, Grabber AT was one of my possible choices since I used to run them on my old truck years ago and like them. I've heard nothing but bad about them lately though.
It sounds as if I can scratch General off the list.

I like mine....softer smoother ride, but good tread. I used dedicated studded snows, so I haven't used them in the snow though.

Something wrong with your truck, not the tires.

I just installed the General Grabber AT2 on my Tahoe (Load E rated).

They have just a tiny hair bit of noise on the highway and mine are balanced 100% up to 90mph

I'd look and see what they touched while your tires were being replaced. And check the balance. These tires are very highly rated, and after the last 1500 miles I've put on them I agree. Only complaint I have is that they pick up small rocks

What is the overall diameter of the new tires? If they are taller, then you have changed your virtual gear ratio. You will essentially be driving in a higher gear. Better for gas mileage but seemingly lower power. You can rule out the rim spinning in the tire by marking the tire at the valve stem and watch for the mark to move. I am betting that the rubber is just harder than you are accustomed to.

Can't trust reviews anymore. The going rate for 100 positive reviews from 3rd world outfits is about $7. The big companies pay more for glowing narratives.

True, but you can also look at demand signal

I have 3 buddies with the Grabber AT2 who love them.

Then an I asked the tire shop what 2 hottest tires they sell. They sell Mastercraft M/T, and the grabber At2 most. Pretty easy decision after that

The tire height is 31.65 it's within .05 of my current stock tires. We tried the fronts on the rear and same issue, all 4 tires only in the rear slid around only while under acceleration. Guy from the wheel manufacturer thinks they used the wrong lug nuts and it's a possible lug issue. I'm moving to Vegas tomorrow and don't have time to try different options. I'm returning the tires right now, stocks on with stock lugs no issues.
