I have a 2004 CCSB with a 4" fabtech lift on 35" tires and 18" wheels. I let has been studded and ringed with 6.4 head gaskets and the heads have been decked and cleaned and reassembled and all that fun stuff. New oil cooler and EGR delete. The turbo has be. Gone through completely and cleaned and is working just fine. Just put a new water pump on it. It has a straight piped stock exhaust and a sinister diesel cold air intake (it was on there when I bought it). I know the stock intake is best but I'm not going to spend the money to go back to stock at this point because I honestly like the blue color. I have an SCT x4 with a custom tune from Gearhead. Now I'm sitting here on money and trying to figure out what to do next. Any ideas?
Well you've done it all, might as well save the money, lol!
Matter of fact, if you need to get rid of some of it, PayPal it to me and I'll mod my truck some
Seriously though, sounds like you have a Mechanical sound truck you can trust and depend on. Drive it and keep the money if something decides it's going to break.
You've done good keeping the stock exhaust, it's really the best for spooling the turbo as well as fuel economy and power.
Upgrade to the 08' tranny pan and filter, add the battery cables to improve voltage stability and then install the upgraded alternator.
I would highly recommend getting the metal tranny saver plug(s) to replace the plastic one(s).
I just did the one in my Excursion, it's a very easy upgrade. Amazingly the plastic plug doesn't have a O-ring.
Sounds like it's time for some interior attention? Some style and comfort? Window tint? Tow options? Suspension upgrades? It's your canvas man. Stock is not an option............in some areas.
I know some here don't believe in them here, but i think a coolant filter us a great idea. It'll help nake sure that new oil cooler stays clean. When i had my 6.0, my deltas were slowly creeping up on a new oil cooler. Once i added the coolant filter, my delta stopped rising. The 1st coolant filter can i cut open had a lot of crud in it. The 2nd cut filter had a little bit in it and the 3rd was clean.
