C6 internals swap question

C6 internals swap question
I have a freshly rebuilt C6 from a '78 Bronco and was wondering if all the guts are the same and could be taken out and put in a C6 housing from an '87 Bronco that has the smaller bell housing for a 302? Someone wants to buy my C6 for his '87 and would like to know if the swap is a direct one and how much would a transmission shop charge to swap over the internals?

As I stated, I won't be the one doing this, the guy I'm selling it to wants to pay a transmission shop to swap over the internals. The transmission shop charges $700 to rebuild a C6 and he's trying to figure out what route is the cheapest. If both transmissions are C6's, what about them internally is different? I know the case is different at the bell housing but shouldn't they be the same inside?

The parts for a rebuild kit are about $150 (probly less for a transmission shop). The rest of the cost is labor. Plus, the transmission you have won't have new seals, o-rings, or gaskets that can be re-used. Instead you'll have to buy new ones anyways. Also, having the mechanic disassemble 2 transmissions, juggling parts, and assembling 1 transmission is gonna cost more because he's doing 50% more work. Just my $0.02.
