Lack of 6.2 on west coast
Hi guys, i keep waffling on what i want a 6.7 or a 6.2. The truck will be my personal logging crummy. So it will have a fuel tank, tools, welder, oils, and all kinds of other junk in the back for logging. I did have my mind set on the 2012-2016 6.7, but after lurking on here and the 6.7 page, I may actually be just as happy, if not more so, with the 6.2. I will be using it to pull my travel trailer, and i have a 16k gooseneck. However, I really don't pull really heavy loads much anymore. I have log truck and low beds so pretty much anything that is really heavy i just use one of my log trucks for. My problem is now, THERE ARE ALMOST NO 6.2'S in higher trim packages on the west coast. Anybody know some good places to source a 6.2?!

Seattle area. Ive seen so many King ranch and Platinum package gas trucks here, on the road and dealer lots. I live outside of the major metro area and our dealer here has a quite a few gas trucks on the lot

Your really better off ordering the pickup honestly.. since you will have a loaded pickup the whole time, get the 4.30 gears and order with the trim level you want, that.. or find the trim you want and have the pickup regeared to 4.56 or 4.88's since your going to be loaded fairly heavy.. honestly if you want to pull 16k and run at 10k all the time.. get the 6.7 and get it deleted and maybe some of the other performance upgrades and run that
6.2 will have less maintenance. But without a good re-gear to a minimum 4.30 your going to hate live running loaded all the time.
Raindesert and my self live here in the PNW around Corvallis. My pickup runs 8800lbs normally, and I'm running 31's.

Well I can tell you with quite a bit of confidence that 4.30 trucks are very difficult if not impossible to find in northern California. I searched high and low for a 2017 super cab long bed 4wd f250, in sxt or XLT trim. I simply couldn't find one. Eventually I was offered a deal I couldn't pass up on a 3.73 truck. I figured considering I saved quite a bit of money buying and end of the year 17 I could always regear and still be money ahead. Plus I'd rather have 4.56 or deeper gears so I could run a size or 2 bigger tires.
But to your point, the diesel out sells the gasser in spades here in California

Im not too worried about the 6.2 being loaded all the time. One of my crummy trucks right now is the 7.5/460 gas and it gets around plenty good. Its actually way more pleasant to drive than the 7.3 I have. I think the 6.2 actually has better numbers than the old 460.

The loggers around here buy a lot of 6.2's these days. The issue is the local dealer stocks 3.73 6.2's and those trucks just don't perform as well as a 4.30 truck for the working conditions on hand. My advice is to just order the exact 6.2 you want with the proper 4.30 gearing. You will be happy with that.
