93 f150 fuel pump keeps going out

I have a 4x4 93 F150 with a 300 4.9 strait 6 motor with 5 speed transmission. I had replaced the original gas tank because it was rusted out and leaking with a tank from a 95 f150 in better condition. After doing so the fuel pump went out and I replaced it along with the fuel filter and check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and it was at 65psi. This worked for a month before it became weak so I replaced the fuel filter and the "sock" on the pump and cleaned the tank. The pump went out within the next week. So once again I replaced the pump etc and the truck ran fine for 2 days before it started to stutter and died on me. Checked the pump and it had once again quit on me. Im not sure what the problem is I had thought it was trash in the tank but I had thoroughly cleaned out the tank before I put the last pump on. Any ideas as to what my problem is? Thanks.

Maybe just bad fuel pumps... not unheard of for a "new" part to not work out of the box.

Isnt that pressure pretty high? Ford says the appropriate pressure should be 30-44

The OP has a 6 cylinder. They run higher pressure than the V8.

But it should not be higher than 60psi.
If he got 65 with just the key on and off it may be a lot higher than 65psi and close to 95psi.

I would look for a bad fuel pressure regulator or pinched closed fuel return line.

The Ford manuals are wrong for the V-8 also.
The V-8 is about 30-40psi. We say about 40psi but it is 30-39.3psi.
If you see 44psi on a V-8 you have a bad gauge or a bad FPR.
