I found it in Old Cars Weekly years ago and when we had a chance to go to Palmyra, just outside Hershey we had to go. There's a door on the shore of the river, just a white door hung on a 4x4. If you want the ferry to come to your side you shut the door. They'll see the door is "closed" and they'll bring the ferry over to pick you up. The water is only 3-4 deep. It may not be the most fantastic thing to do but it's history and something you won't see anymore anywhere else. I know I'm going to take a ride on it if I can make it out there, I know my wife is going to want to go.
I'll have to look for the door my next time I go by that way.

Thanks Bob. I am enjoying my retirement. I have really been a stranger on FTE, and definitely in this forum, since I got my "new" truck. But I haven't been on the other forum hardly at all either.

Abe, when you asked me to explain the door I thought you were asking me to explain it for the benefit of other members, sounds like you've never explored it or knew anyone who did. Funny how there's something of interest in your own backyard and you don't really think about it, I know when I hosted a meet the hardest part was trying to figure out what I could show attendees interesting local places. Shane didn't have to do much in that department, there were something interesting around every turn and the views were beautiful.

You are right Bob. We will travel great distances to see attractions but forget to do things in our own backyard. I lived in Lancaster county and went to Lock Haven University in 1973. And moved to Lock Haven in 1982 so I drove route 11 and 15 many times either going to school or coming to visit family in Lancaster but never knew of the door!

That is a great location in a great section of the country. Only 6 hours for me. This is a good excuse to get my truck ready. We plan on being there. Thanks abe.
Lots of good roads to cruise on, but everyone make sure that your brakes work. Emergency brake too just in case.

We camp mostly in PA state parks. My wife makes the reservations for the group of us that are going. 11 months to the day she's on the computer making reservations. Either last night or Monday night she made reservations for August '18. She wanted to book a cabin for our son's family, but they were all taken. So she chose another state park. Many times we see near 100% occupancy. If you're coming and camping, reserve early. They have a $10.00 cancellation fee. Dennis

I guess I better work on getting mine working in the F-2. Didn't have on in KY and I could have sure used one Here it's relatively flat with a few hilly places so the regular brakes do fine. I know, I know, it's not exactly a smart idea not to have the extra brake worked no no matter where at.

I'll be doing 700 miles double clutching and taking in the country side at 40-45 mph. We did it in 2012, the most enjoyable trip we ever had. In that case the enjoyment wasn't only in the voyage but in getting to our destination where we met part of the FTE family for the first time. We never travel so these trips are our few adventures. I figure it's going to take about twenty hours.
