Steering wheel? Just use some rebar and cover it in thin plastic. CHECK!
Seats? Flat metal covered with half inch foam cushion. CHECK!

They're like big Jeeps really. I honestly lost all appeal 15 minutes into driving my first one. Now a deuce and a half... I've thought about buying one on more than one occasion!
Haha that's funny

I've got an uncle with has more money then knows what to do with and he just bought I want to say a duece and half but may be the newer style with 4 huge tire on the rear instead of the old school style with twin dually axel s

I would have suggested (don't kill me for this) a 6.8, but since you will actually be using the truck for it's intended purpose (as a truck) a diesel is a much better option.

I didn't mean to rain on your parade, I was just answering your question. I totally forgot they had springs on the front, and to be honest I never really thought about the rear! I don't know a whole lot about the mechanics of the truck as much as I do just driving one. If that's what you want then I honestly hope you can make a vehicle you love out of it. I think what pissed me off the most about them was I thought they were awesome as a kid. I never cared about the fancy Lambos or Ferrari posters. I always wanted a Hummer. I join the Army and am put in one. All the sudden I had met my hero, and he was a let-down. I don't know if there was any way it could have been acceptable to be honest, a 6 year old's mind can REALLY inflate how great something is. The trucks are fine, I just shouldn't have expected so much

So, it turns out that Ford makes/made a V6 version of our 6.0. Called the 4.5L powerstroke. Similar design but changed a few things. I can get one in a wrecked LCR Ford flatbed for 3000$ with trans and everything. I hear the tranny is great but I'm weary on the engine and integration issues. Just entertaining ideas here but what do y'all think our engines need in respect to speed sensors/abs/ etc? A 4.5L v6 would be a great size if tuned properly to get rid of the driveabilty issues I have on my 6.0. Would save a few hundred lbs vs a 5.9 cummins.

Yeah but the 4.5 is more compact with turbo on top too.

I like the idea of the engine trans coming from the same platform
that way no oddball standalone control modules.

First... Cool acquisition... Second... What about 7.3 from a 99-03 Ford... You can make as much power as you want (or have funds for) and they are dead nuts reliable. Well at least my 97 was and the newer ones I assume are jut more mature. Transmissions are good (if built).

A Nav motor, like all Powerstroke, adapted to a Ford chassis and transmission.

The problem with any of the newer motors are the needs of the electronics. Ford uses the ABS controller in many applications to read the ABS sensor(s) and produce a speed signal for engine and trans control. Once that hurdle is completed, an engine/trans combo is the best situation. Is the LCR trans adaptable to to transfer case to fit the HV?

Yes what's interesting is they seemed to use the auto tranny we know from the 6.0 but they only used the 4wd housing without a t case installed for some reason. So it would seem adapting a t case to this setup would Beas easy as bolting it on. Now the speed sensor stuff is what I'm worried about but gosh isn't there a digital system that can fake that signal or can we take it off the driveline or something?

Possible, and has been done. Just seems like a lot more motor than we need although it's probably shorter by a good foot or so. Here's what the humvee looks like with its clothes off. Notice how it's actually a mid engine vehicle?!
So with the engine so far back you can see why width is an issue so any application with turbo or other bulky accessories would need to be kept inside and not in the foot wells of the cabin.
