Has anyone installed the pop and lock kit pl9555 on their truck cap?

Looking to see how hard the wiring is, and if in fact you have to run the wiring all the way to the front or can tap into the tailgate.

Getting a 2018 with remote tailgate release and seems it would be a useless feature if the cap does not allow it to open.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is just a guess since I don't know what you have in mind for a cap but I would think that a cap specifically designed for your truck would come down flush with the top edge of the tailgate allowing it to be opened without opening the cap. That's how my hard tonneau cover is designed. The remote tailgate release works just fine - unless you're parked facing downhill in which case it unlocks but doesn't lower.
