1968 F100 w/Boss 302

Did you get just the standard black/silver ignition key or did you also get a Black/red "Trackey". A Dealer add on thing specific to the Boss 302 Mustangs. The key and a special program for the PCM had to be ordered from Ford Racing Performance Parts. Once loaded, the standard key would run the Boss 302 as programmed from the factory. And with the red key the car was transformed in to a race car. All the parameters for running the engine automatically changed. From a lopey idle on up. Then start it with the black/silver key and the engine starts and runs as from the factory again.

unfortunately no, I was hoping for it where the auction stated that "keys were present" but all that came with the car was the silver key. From what I'm reading you need a voucher to get the tune loaded into your pcm by Ford and they are no longer available unless someone has an unused one kicking around somewhere(not likely).

So, not a whole lot of progress I guess but some. Spent October and November selling Boss 302 parts on ebay trying to clean out the garage and get some money back from the salvage purchase. Then that led into snowmobile season here in New Brunswick and I have a hard time resisting a nice weekend on the trails when conditions permit. But I managed to get the floor finished up on my cab. Two new floor pans, cab mounts and multiple small patches complete, then some bedliner to make it look presentable. Sold the FR500 wheels tonight as I wasn't 100% happy with them on the truck and have the Boss 302 wheels on the chassis for now but really kinda digging them(kinda have a retro look), especially if I go with white paint in the end, we'll see.

No, I did have PATS turned off in the ECU and had the engine running on a stand, but when I deleted ABS and the air bag components from the wiring harness I think it freaked the ECU out and it went back into theft mode. I'm thinking I'll probably just go with the control pack from Ford as it simplifies the wiring and I will be needing a custom tune anyway as I'm planning on long tube headers and an aftermarket cold air kit. The Red Key is a cool feature but I'd have to send my ECU away to have PATS completely removed and still have to deal with this factory wiring harness. Pretty much everything the red key does can be done with a custom tune with maybe the exception of launch control.

Right now the truck has an 08 mustang gt rear end in it but I plan on swapping that out for the 2012 boss rear as it has 3.73 gears and a torsen diff already in it. As for the front suspension it's just a 2010 crown vic PI swap that has been rebuilt with new components. I cut one full coil from each spring.

OK so back at it for a little bit,I fabbed up some motor mounts that moved the engine back 3.5" from the crown vic motor mount position, bolted up the tr6060 and put the cab back on the frame. I wasn't 100% happy with the location and fabbed up a couple more mounts that move it back 4.5" and I like it. I know it's only an inch but you gotta be happy with the end result right?
