Engine Front Splash Shield?

Engine Front Splash Shield?
Hello, I'm thinking of buying an 2013 Expedition Limited or XLT. My neighbors 2004 has what I believe is referred to as a Front Engine Splash Shield, as does a 2014 Expedition EL on a dealers lot.
I've looked at four 2013 Expeditions and none of them has any type of shield to keep stuff from bouncing into the serpentine belt and pulleys.
My question: what years did the Expedition have this "shield" or is it a dealer add on, or what??
Thanks for your input.
Bob

splash shield or not?
Bob, I just bought a used 2013 Expedition (not from a dealer) and I have the same question about the lack of protection for the front of the engine, seems like a whole lot of nothing protecting the belt and all of the front of the engine area. I have an EL with the 5.4 and 4x4. Is something missing? Is it an option, any help would be appreciated, Joe

My 2007 Navigator has a rubber/composition shield but some of the fastener holes ripped and it was hanging down. I ordered a new one from Ford but it is slightly different and some holes don't line up with the frame holes so I 'reattached' the original temporarily . . . 4 months ago . . . and it is still in place. When it eventually falls down again I will put holes in the right places on the new one and use it.
Some owners in forums mention not bothering to replace it but the engineers must have seen a benefit in protecting the front of the engine and improving air flow through the radiator.
I could not find it online after extensive searching so I went to the dealer to order it. I am away from home right now but I can post the part number next week.
