Streering dampener 2006 F-250

I have a 2006 F-250 that is a great truck and I keep it in tip top shape, intending it to be the last truck I ever own!

I want to replace the steering dampener, which was replaced by a dealer in Fredericksburg VA 7 years ago and they do not keep records beyond four years so they can not supply the part number - here's the deal:

NO DEALER IN VIRGINIA can properly spec the part.

The dampener on my truck has an eyelet on both ends!

Every parts breakdown known to humanity shows a streeing dampener with an eyelet on one end and a straight shaft on the other!

There is a 2006 F-150 that has a steering dampener with two eyelets but it is about six inches too short to be used on my truck.

Anybody ever run into this or do I have the only F-250 with this part?

Thanks!

Steering dampener for F250 2006

No it is too short. This is the dampener for the F-150. They are saying it is for a 250 but they are lying like dogs!

Thanks anyway!

Looking at Autonation White Bear Lake's web site, it is probable that "Steering Damper - Ford (5C3Z-3E651-D)" is the part that you need.

Is your truck 4WD or RWD?

Near as I can tell, the RWD steering damper has 2 rings. The 4WD damper has a ring on one end.

5C3Z-3E651-D This part has a ring on only one end. Not the part.

I definitely have 4WD BUT the steering damper for the 2WD may well be the culprit.

Thanks,

Hal

This is the original one on my 2006 F350 if it's any help. What you see measures about 22" - wheels are straight.

Thanks for the post but this is not the correct part either. I believe I found the correct part on Amazon.com!
