Drill and tap it out with an 1/8th or 1/4 inch NPT tap

Check this out. It's from the OBS section, but should work for you.

Red: Thanks for that link (that was along the lines of what I recalled the fix was)

Mecdac: Thanks. I will update once the local collision place gets it's power back.

If you installed EGT gauge, you likely already have the bit and tap

That is "was" on the TODO list, before we moved to CO, I am still hoping to tow the Explorer with my Excursion. I've got a new Gendex rear-view mirror with backup/cam also on the TODO list, so with the headliner out, and a new windshield going in (hopefully) that also can get done.

Lists.... LOL.

Well then, you can keep your 1/8" tap and the associated bit for your eventual EGT probe install

I hate that for you! Check the fit of your doors, A pillars, etc. That's what pushes the ins co over to the total side. Just the sheet metal on the roof should not be too bad. A new hood is like $200-300 plus paint. I would want the whole thing painted. Really go over, around and under it numerous times. It's amazing what you DON'T see sometimes. Good luck!

Thanks. Will cleanout interior over the weekend, and vacuum up glass, remove all my things as well. Will be able to inspwct once all the glass and sawdust is removed.

The damage is not bad, it's all about the roof (inside and outside) and whether something (doors, winshield) are out of alignment.
Sounds like local Ford dealer should get power by Monday, then we'll be ready to get it towed in. I want to ensure they won't let water inside and damage it more.

Glad everyone is safe, but bummer about the EX. A little piece of us dies every time another EX leaves the road.

Diesel Excursions, really do hold their value!!! First vehicle my adjuster has seen in Fl from Irma, NOT a total loss!!
Auto insurance will cover repairs!
State Farm, valued stock '05 Ex, Eddie Bauer w/all options, w/148k, 2wd at about $18k!!!
Didn't even need to evaluate all my upgrades to be able to get it repaired, but, we can include them later, if needed, should more repairs be needed.
About $11k repair estimate.
Have about $2k more "room" if they find something else that needs to be added.

Hot diggidity....

That's great to hear. This has been the best Excursion news on here in more than a month.
