Rotella T6 Now on Ford's List

Not sure when they got added but just clicked my bookmark for the Ford list and low and behold, T6 is now on the list.

The thing is, from my understanding of the process, Ford was never testing oils to allow them onto their list. They were analyzing what oils contained for anti-wear additives and if you had enough of this or that, you got on the list. So, did Shell add what Ford wanted or did Ford lower their requirements?

So, does this mean we need to let the current stock of t6 get purged til the 'new approved' t6 hits shelfs. Oil shouldn't be this complecated.

I know it. I have enough PBE on my shelf for two more changes. So, if it was a change on Shell's end, what I buy next time out should be fine... Or maybe it's already fine and has been all along...

This oil thing is a bunch of crap and Ford needs to tell us what changed with Rotella T6. Was it Ford or Shell?

That's good news to hear for sure it was always good oil. However I would wait to see the oil bottles with Ford's number on it showing that it's the new formula. They absolutely had to change the formula to meet Ford's new requirement a little research on this subject will come up with some videos explaining as I posted in a previous discussion they tested ck4 oils and found them not to protect the way CJ 4 did , for the hot rod community breaking in flat tappet valve Motors check it out. I contacted the gentleman who made the video and he did concur they were testing T6 new formula that failed. Most of you know my situation with my 16 with the bottom end issue and most will say that it's due to Ford's fault but, I would definitely wait to see the T6 with the new formulation or at least the bottles that claim they meet Ford's new requirement I wouldn't want anyone going through what I did take care

The problem with that is... the receipt, the only thing you are going to save to prove you ran an approved oil in a warranty claim situation, is not going to say what T6 you bought. Could be CJ4. Could be new bottle before Ford spec listed. Could be new bottle with Ford spec on it. The receipt you save and present won't make that clear in any way. I'm certainly not saving empty oil bottles to prove what I ran the right T6...LOL. That said, oil choice related failures are so rare they are nearly non existent so this whole thing really is an exercise in futility.

Agreed but really had nothing to do with warranty claims or anything like that. Its more for piece of mind. If it states it meets or exceeds Ford's spec then I won't be concerned. If I ever switch back.

I agree, wait for the new bottle, and take a picture of the bottle with your receipt.

There may not be a new bottle. Valvoline's reformulated PBE CK4 is on Ford's list and there is no mention of Ford's spec on the bottle.
