1976 F-250 SuperCab Suspension and Steering Upgrades
So, with the old and presumably tired suspension and steering on my truck, I'm gathering info on parts to replace. The plan is to eventually use the truck as a bumper pull travel trailer tow vehicle, so that needs to be borne in mind.
So, starting point:
SuperCab Trailer Special
460
C6
7100 GVWR
Dana 60 rear axle (3.54:1) with LSD
4500lb OR 5300lb rear axle - plate, according to ND says 5300lb rear axle, but sticker on door frame says 4500lb - not sure which is correct.
3500lb front axle capacity (sticker on driver's door frame)
1976 brochure for a F250 SuperCab with 8ft Styleside box and 7100 GVWR agrees with the 3500lb front axle. It lists front springs at 2900lb (maximum rating) and rear springs at 4500lb
The Marti Report shows 7.50-16 wheels, HD front and rear shocks, HD rear springs, and auxiliary rear springs

Please chime in on anything I've missed out, best options for the parts (Energy Suspension or Prothane for bushings? Red or black?, etc)
Steering plans:
Redhead Steering gear
Rag joint
Radius arm bushings
Tie rod ends - Moog
Drag link - Moog
King pin bushings
What else?
Front Suspension plans:
Coil springs (supplier for a SuperCab? Moog CC808 springs are for 6900 GVWR and less)
Monroe 34900 dampers?
Sway bar? Hellwig 7422?
What else?
Rear Suspension plans:
Replace the leaf springs with new, including new hardware (shackles, etc) - General Spring show three options: 1650, 1950, 2450, all with 5 leaves (4/1)
Monroe 34911 dampers?
Helper springs?
Sway bar? Hellwig 7436 or 7446?
What else?

Not sure how much help I can be, but you're on the right track with quality components. I've used Energy Suspension bushings in my builds for years, great product. Sway bars will give you greatly increased stability, and Helwig is a great brand. There's a lot more to them than a simple metal bar, so stay away from the cheapies. Metallurgy is a science. Also, have you considered airbags? I got a set of Firestone airbags for my rear suspension which will drastically increase my load carrying capability. After much research, I'm using Bilstien 5100 series shocks on my truck. Mine is set up as a daily driver and a travel trailer hauler.

Linky to the part numbers I used on my '74 F250 SuperCab with 7500Lb GVWR. YMMV!
Another link where I prattle about tools and torque...
I didn't do king pins although I did think about it. I choose to hit the low hanging fruit first. I think my king pins are OK as with all the new parts in there now, it drives very nicely now. No more sawing the wheel back and fourth constantly just to keep it in my lane. I didn't take it in to have toe set and now I'm seeing wear in the tires so I need to get that done soon.
