The main thing that goes wrong with a fuel pressure regulator is that it gets a ruptured diaphragm and will leak fuel out of the nipple on top. This will let the fuel pressure say at about 40 psi and not drop down to about 32 psi at idle.
Not saying the fuel pressure regulator is not bad but it is not your problem at the moment.
The PCM Computer has a center 10mm wrench size bolt in its plug and is taken out through a gap between the drivers fender and the inter fender with the front tire removed.

You may also want to check to see if you have power to the PCM and it has a good ground at the passenger fender behind the battery before changing PCM out.
Also if it is the PCM and if you are in a hurry just plug in the replacement PCM and tie it up out of the way. It does not have to be mounted in its hole to run the engine.
