How I tow my Jeep.

How I tow my Jeep.
I bought 3/16 inch angle iron which is the same thickness asthe PJ trailer frame. I cut a groove just wide enough to slide the angle irondown into it (had to hammer it down). Then I drilled three holes per tire through the angle iron, wood, andframe and bolted them using grade 8 bolts. After that I welded on 4,000# D-rings.Straps I use are MACS.Kind of expensivebut worth the peace of mind.
What’s great about this is I never have to climb under myJeep again. I can ratchet them down froma standing position. Also unlike strappingto the axle they never shift and loosen up.I truly believe I could roll this down a hillside and the Jeep wouldstill be attached.

Thought/opinions? Have an interesting set-up for towing something?

I looked at the bonnets (assume you mean the basket style on MACS website) but I run two Jeeps with two different tire sizes. Buying that many was a small fortune. So the tire straps with the blocks was the best solution. If you look at their website they actually hung a Jeep either all night or all weekend at an event using that type. That would have been an awesome setup.

I originally bought the E track from E-trailer. Then I got some bad pics of them bending. Something you don't have to worry about with a ATV. Personally I think it was the way they had the vehicle strapped to them. They attached to the body. I am sure it bounced putting more shock load on the e track. Me strapping to tires wouldn't have had that. But it would have been enough to worry me so I went this route.

I double tow my 5er with a 5.5x10 flatbed loaded with my lifted golf car and strap it the same way. One thing I'd recommend is either come up with a strap to hold the strap in the center of the tire or, what I did, deflate the tires some so that the strap bites down concave into the tread so it can't slip off. I had the straps slip off before but luckily the ramp held it on.
