129K on my 01 Sport.. towed my 26 ft travel trailer from Oregon to Nevada, (700 miles 1 way) then from Oregon to San Diego about 1100 miles 1 way.. also used it to tow a 4 horse trailer up a steep mountain pass (weight was 7800 lbs on the trailer axles and 1200 tongue weight) for about 50 miles.. that was about 40K miles ago when I towed the horse trailer

I'll be driving it to Tennessee from Oregon next month and back, towing a light trailer and my son's furniture from Tennessee.. should be a fun trip..

oh, my EGR valve's been stuck for about 70K miles, one of these days I'll have to replace it, but that's been the only major mechanical work it needs.

Mileage

I have 197,000 on my 2000 2wd sport, my only vehicle for the apx 60 mi round trip per day. Bought her as second owner with 73k on her in '05. Ran for on the road service calls for 2 years. She has been great

That is awesome! Does it still have the original Engine/Tranny?

Well, you have certainly passed the endurance test! I'm assuming that you have the V6 in your sport, right? Your probably hauling more than twice the rated towing/tongue weight capacity. Wow!

I think I might get the lowest amount of miles put on an Excursion in 1 year. Only 2K miles I put on her since I bought her a year ago. When the gas prices hit high I use my gas saver for work. Then bad ball joints and a frozen brake caliper had her side lined for 4 months. Shes back on the road and just barely 140K

Traded my 91 Explorer XLT 4X4 with 299,008 miles in 2009, did have to repair the trans twice.

2002 XLT has 160,000, trans solonoids are bad, rear bearings and differential are bad, rear window shattered a few months back. Very disappointed, this one was babied much more than the 91.

yep, 4.0 SOHC V6 and the 5r55e tranny, with 3.73 gears and trailer tow package. I'm going to in the future install a secondary tranny cooler, since it definitely could use it, in addition to the OEM cooler..

I saw this was still open so it is time for an update.

183,569 miles

A/C recharged and fuel pump changed in driveway, that is it, runs like new.

2000 Ford EXPLORER SPORT 89,2XX miles. Runs like new, fresh Autolite Iridium plugs, Motorcraft plug wires, plug boot heat protectors (DEI) new Purolator air filter, Pennzoil ULTRA oil 5w30 w/ Motorcraft FL1-A oil filter.

Just serviced transmission (ATF and transfilter change) replaced upper radiator hose and thermostat, (factory Motorcraft 195 thermostat) lower radiator hose w/ cooling system flush and add new coolant - 50% Peak 50% distilled water.

Next project coming up shortly; power steering flush w/ new PS and changing rear differential gear oil with Royal Purple's gear lube.

Great Explorer, the short wheelbase w/ the new white KYB Gas-Adjust shocks give it a somewhat stiff with some body roll (front to back) but all considered, it's a solid, firm ride. I don't expect a pillow soft / Lincoln - Cadillac ride with this SUV.
