52 F1 speedo cable clip?

Dad and I spent the entire day taking the doors apart and off the cab. Unbelievably we were able to remove all the fasteners without stripping anything including the hinge screws and the lock cylinder set screw. PB blaster, MAPP torch, and gulf wax were our magic potions today.

I don't think our cab had any sort of clip holding the speedo cable to the dash or firewall. Should it have one and if so what does it look like and where does it go? Unsure of how to route it in the cab, where does it exit the cab, etc.

thx
JB

Mine exits though a hole in the firewall about 8" above the throttle level (the old rubber grommet has rotted away long ago.
