1996 Ford F-350 7.3 Powerstroke Maintenance

Hello All,

I have a 96 F350 7.3 Turbo Diesel with 212,000 miles and I am looking to do some preventative maintenance.

Are there certain censors I need to replace? I have seen on the internet that there are certain censors that can fail when over 200,000 miles.

Cam Sensor?
High Lressure Oil censor?
Etc?

Is there anything else I need to look at replacing?

Oil is changed every 3000 miles and fuel filter is replaced regularly.

Thank you,
Calwb

welcome to FTE.
the only sensor i would worry about is the cam position sensor. get a new one from ford or international and keep it in the glove box with a wrench t change it when it dies.

Buy the Ford one. Do not buy the cheap ones at major part sellers, they are know to be inconsistent at best. RiffRaff Diesel has them for $25. Buy two and keep one in the glove box/tool box. Part number is F4TZ12K073C. They take about 10 minutes to change with a 10mm socket on a 1/4 drive ratchet.

Would a faulty cam position sensor cause your truck to surge/ loose power for a brief second?

If not any ideas? Oil level good, full of diese, new air filter, due filter realitively new.
