They're especially advantageous where available space dictates a small vacuum booster. Not sure if it has a big advantage over a stock 350 booster (which is really large in these trucks) or not.
But it sure opens up some space in there.
I don't like the extra plumbing, but can't argue with their power.

I don't believe there was. This would have to be a PO retrofit I think.
Of course, I've been surprised before, and Ford does use hydroboost on some stuff. And it's been around that long too. Saw one of my first on an '80 K30 GMC truck.
But I've never seen one on our vintage Fords.
