They're especially advantageous where available space dictates a small vacuum booster. Not sure if it has a big advantage over a stock 350 booster (which is really large in these trucks) or not.
But it sure opens up some space in there.

Of course, I've been surprised before, and Ford does use hydroboost on some stuff. And it's been around that long too. Saw one of my first on an '80 K30 GMC truck.

Sure sign the truck was originally equipped with the Olds 350 diesel.
