Steering box rebuild
I need to rebuild my F3 steering box. I have done a few ford tractors, so that part don't scare me. What I need to know is how high in the air does the front end or the whole truck have to be to get the steering column/ steering box out . I would like to do it in my shop , because I would have more time. If I take it to a shop with a hoist I will have to take a day off, have all the correct parts, and get er done so to speak.. Thanks guys.

I pulled mine out through the cab. But I didn't have rear glass so I had all the room I needed.
I wonder if you could angle it as you pulled it toward the cab to make enough room. If the steering wheel is off, I would think you could move that end toward the passenger side and get it out that way.
I don't have my manual here with me, I wonder what it has to say.
Hopefully someone that has done it will come along shortly.

As I recall, the trick is to lift the truck by the axle, then put jack stands on the frame so the axle hangs down (wheels off?). With the steering wheel off and floor plates out, then you can shoot the box over the axle and out. Obviously the higher you have it the less trouble. I took the box out of my F-1 with it on the floor, but with engine out.
