Cruise Control works, but drops out 93 Clubwagon
My cruise control didn't work for almost 8 years, then lol and behold one day it started working- but not perfectly.
It engages but then after a short, or long while it will release the accelerator...if I hit "resume" it comes right back until it decides to let go again.
Any ideas or recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks- the brake lights work, but I'm wondering if there's a way to clean or if I should just replace the switch.... it would be worth it if my cruise decided to work again....loose connection maybe? Is there a dedicated wire to the cruise circuit from the brake switch that could be loose or bad?
thanks again...

Mine does the same and is not a vacuum motor with an electronic release, but rather electrical and the stepper motor is giving it up.
unfortunately, they are no longer made and no longer available from ford or anyone else so its boneyard time....
audiovox used to make the CCS100 and I installed dozens of those on cars and trucks over the years but alas, no longer made and sourced and for $100 it was the best. if you can find one, they can wire into the existing VSS and cruise switch(es), they just need a large vacuum ball (the $10 one from advance is too small) so if you find one, try and locate the large ball from any gm/chevy square body truck, or GM full size car with a carb...

I wondered if the actual motor was going bad- but that seemed inconsistent based on the way it drops and will re-engage right away with the "resume" switch... If I knew it were the motor, I would go to the boneyard!
What about actually sourcing an actual motor, gutting the old one and replacing it... are the DC motors that specific?
Thanks all...

Hey there, the horn works fine... and honestly, so does the CC switch when I hit the "resume" button... I did try rocking the steering wheel back and forth to hit a "dry" spot and had no adverse reaction...
If the motor was going bad, wouldn't it just slowly slip instead of letting loose all together?? I hear the accelerator pedal JUMP when it lets go, just like if you were to hit the brake when driving...
