Well I went out and changed the clamp at the baby's butt tonight, that went well and attempted to seal up the y pipe. All that did was **** me off until I finally gave up. We will give it another round tomorrow night and see what happens. Keep you posted.

Have a buddy hide the welder

Most of us have had those days. Might be in the middle of one now, but hitting pause until Wed eve.

Good luck, you'll get it!

I'll be working on it this afternoon after work. I need the thing on the road agin so one way or another is going on tonight. I did read somewhere in my research for tips last night that a couple people said you have to trim the spider just a little where it goes into the boots by the plenum for the 38r. Anyone had to or ever heard of doing this? Kinda makes sense since it seems like it's just a hair to long. But hard to believe at the same time

Its the spider he's fighting with. I believe it's an ATS compressor housing that's the problem.

Yes it's the spider, it's garret 38r turbo. I've been researching this today and I've got a few things to try tonight. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Mine went right in without an issue.
Try loosening the turbo mounting bolts and the compressor housing so they are finger tight.
Shaving 3/32" off the bottom of the spigot on the spider won't hurt a thing.

Not sure what time you were getting started, but we are looking forward to a good update.

I missed the part about ATS housing, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Well it's back together, I loosened all the clamps up again and it fit right in like it's suppose to. So who knows. Took it on a test run and HOLY TOLEDO it's a noisy turbo. I don't remember the one I had before being even a 1/4 this noisy. Inside the cab it's a constant whine even cruising at 55. Most boost I seen was 19. So don't know if there's more going on with the turbo or what. I know I'll be putting my stock turbo back on before I listen to this thing.

I'm hitting 32lbs of boost with stock injectors and tuning.
With a 6637 intake they are really noisy, too noisy for me. It would be nice and quiet with an AIS intake but it's also a little restrictive for a 38R. I switched from an AIS to a S&B because it's in a closed box that helps with the noise. S&B also filters very well.

Mine has no tunes and it's sucking through the stock air box and what I consider to be a restrictive looking muffle in the 4 inch exhaust that's on it at the moment. 19 seemed a little low. I don't believe I have any leaks because after I got the spider on I air tested and no bubbles. Plus the gauge on my air tester was building pressure to 10ish pounds. Which is about where I had the compressor turned down to. It's just the noise that is bothering me. Itkinda reminds me of when you had the alternator noise back in the day through the radio.
