I have a 97 f350 powerstroke. I went out and started it up put in drive pushed on the pedal and nothing. I got on here and read to check throttle positioning sensor and the idle validation switch. Put a new tps on and the idle switch was working when the pedal was moved. Looked some more under the hood and found a rat had nested so I spent hours looking for chewed wires. Finally found one chewed into on the bundle of wires to the left of the pcm. So I soldered that one back together. I start it up and still no pedal and the transmission light on the shifter is blinking off now. We put a reader on it but it will not communicate with the reader. Where do I go now.
Any check engine light when you step on the throttle? My truck does that sometimes and I have to wiggle the connector on the idle validation switch. I always get a cel when it happens though.
You need a device that communicates specifically with our generation of PSD. Do you have a Windows laptop/notebook/tablet? If not, do you have an Android device?
I think we do, my wife just got a samsung j7 skypro phone I think they are android and I think my grandaughter has a laptop. I guess these can be used to scan for codes somehow.
You need to download the Torquepro app to the Samsung phone and pick up an ODBII blue tooth dongle like the one linked below. Total cost is less than $30. This app will read your codes and also monitor sensors that you select. It is very handy, and I use it on all my vehicles to read codes or monitor sensors to help troubleshoot.
