Sliding Console door, 2017 F-150

I have a new 2017 XLT. In front of the floor shifter, there is a small sliding door, which conceals the USB outlets. The door seems to have some kind of motor assist. I closed it, but cannot get it to reopen. Is there a secret button somewhere? Thanks for any help.

Push it open by the tab on the front of the lid. It only has a soft touch, similar to having a tiny gas assist strut. Once you push it all the way back, it stays open. Push it back when it's open, then it goes forward on it's own until it closes.

Somehow I see this thing easily breaking so I just leave mine closed. That and the swing doors over the power outlets in the dash and in the rear cab of my truck seem flimsy. Almost if something got caught on them they would snap off.

This door and the glovebox use a similar mechanism that is spring loaded. It'll last many years as long as it's used as designed and not pushed/pulled.

This little cubby door has a propensity to have issues. Even when test driving trucks, I came across one that was stuck open and wouldn't close. There are threads and Youtube videos showing how to fix it....so it's really not a big deal, you can fix it easily yourself if it ever gets stuck.

If I was afraid to use it, I'd probably leave it open so I could use the space. But...why keep it perfect for the next owner? These are trucks, they are made to be used. That's like not driving it at night because you want the next owner to have new bulbs.

Thanks everybody for the replies, but still isn't opening. If it were a simple matter of forcing it, that would be fine. However, the thing is motorized. Why they made it like that, I have no idea.

There's no motor. Just a tiny gas strut. You have to manually push it to open it. All the way. If it's not opening, you might have something jammed inside.

“Similar” problem, need help...

So not really similar but I cannot find any other information on my problem. This morning I pushed this door open and a piece fell out. Any ideas how I get this back in and what exactly it is? It is greasy and so is the underside of the sliding door so I’m fairly certain it came from underneath.

Only complaint I have is if you leave the cover open, the light stays on till cover is closed. Not sure how long it would take to kill the battery and don't believe the bulbs are LED, but might be..

I don't know f it is led or not but the light on my AirRite gauge stays on all the time and it has sat for over a week with no issues.
