I have been using a sheetrock bench so I am not having to
stand on a step stool. Works very well and the bench goes all
the way across the front so you can move around without
jumping down. On the sides I have been using one of the tire
stands that hang over the tire. Works out well if you have it all
set to about the same hight.

I have the passenger side injectors that need to be done and am not
looking forward to that but it has to get done. The driver side is done
and I did find the bad glow plug. The stupid thing was a dead short.
Talk about loading things down at start up.

Anyway back on topic: I sure wished that Harbor Freight had an
over head creeper. They look handy but the price is a bit high for
the use it would get. Now if I had a shop and was doing it every day...

Broken record .......

Got the step ladder.
Got the bench.

Best method, pull the radiator, fan, stator and the hood latch, up and close to the motor standing on the steering link.

Is it possible to replace all the lifters without pulling the motor. Looking at it today there is a tube which I believe is called the branch tube coming from the back of the motor.

Technically you could pull the heads, pull the trans so you could remove the rear plate, then you can leave the block in the frame while taking out the HPOP tubes to replace the lifters. So it's possible.

Jack is right you have to have access to the rear of the engine to get the
branch tube out of the way or you can't pull the lifters in the back.

So is it worth it to replace some of the lifters. I ordered lifters but can return them. I am not going to pull the trans and rear cover.

Its kind of a should I replace injectors 1 though 4 or all 8 situation. If in the future #3 goes bad you'll wish you had. If #8 goes bad you wish you didn't bother. It has to be your comfort level.

So they magnafluxed my heads no cracks. The next step is to pressure test them. Here are some pictures of #8 cylinder and head gasket. Its the only defect we can find. Not sure how it happened. I am very **** about doing things correctly the first time.
