should I buy a used PSD?

Hi guys, I love fords and want to get into the world of the PSD.

I am lookin at buying a 1999 SRW F350 4x4 PSD auto with 104000 miles. I have heard that the trannies go south on these trucks sometimes and this one shifts really good. My question is this: is it ok to install a 4 bank 75 hp chip in this truck and put a transgo shift kit in the 4R100? Will this allow the trans to last longer and can the engine handle a chip at 100000 miles that has been stock up until now? I want to have a little more power and make the trans last a long time and I've heard the shift kit will do this. Is there anything I should check this truck for in particular? It looks like it has been taken care of very well and even has been undercoated, the interior is also perfect. Thank you very much for your help on getting me started!

Power is a trade off for longevity. Your call. I don't see much reason to up the power on a PSD other than personal preference. Mine has plenty and I am a big power junky with other toys, but I like it to last too. But I'm not against more power. MORE MORE MORE!!!!! Its kind of an addiction thing.
