160/0 injectors vs 160/30 for daily driver

Since I live in a few different diesel worlds and not just the 7.3 world. I can say that even guys pushing 800+ hp say there isn't any need for more than a 4". The same rule applies for them/me. 4" will support most any street able truck. 5" is for a deeper note in the exhaust... the stock intake is where most everyone in other worlds worry before the exhaust

Welp, I just found a very exciting box on the front porch! My 160/80s shipped out Thursday and surprisingly showed up today. So, who wants to come install them for me while I'm at work this week?
Now to decide if I want to go ahead and drop the coin on a hydra, or just get one of my DP's tunes adjusted for the new injectors for the moment...

Correct. But context. Info has to be given with context, it should not be assumed.
It's too easy for someone who is not well versed with these trucks to read your post and take it at face value. I was only endeavoring to bring context and specificity to your assertion, so people would understand the stock exhaust is not restrictive, especially when stock....
....or even when viewed in the light of this thread.
A set of 160/80's with a stock exhaust will work with no problems, all things being even. The stock exhaust won't be too restrictive because it's all in the tuning. Find a good tuner whose tunes aren't smokey or cause high EGT's and still provides power and performance and you will be fine.
Usually people want to run hotter tunes though (or their mild tunes just run too hot and that's what they've become used to) so they try and offset the hot tunes by opening the exhaust to cool the temps.
When mild, the exhaust isn't the problem. It's the tuning.
Qualifying statement: This assertion isn't inclusive of bigger sticks or for "hot" tunes, and where that line is drawn is subjective!

Something tells me I may not notice a difference in how my truck runs once you finish installing them though

You can come on by and do it at the shop Mark, we got four pull-through bays for our the road-tractors we service, ten toolboxes full of tools, a pit, oil and filters in stock, as well as a lift and an overhead chain hoist if you really need it!

Well I just got it going. The 180/80 injectors idle good and it isn't throwing any codes. The single shot injectors don't sound much louder than the split shots did, I figured it would have that OBS lope but I think the OBS trucks sound the way they do because of the mechanical fuel pump. I haven't driven it yet because it has no bed, lights, mirrors, bumpers or rear driveshaft on it right now.

The mechanical fuel pump is not why the 95 to 97 pickups idle poorly. I figured I would squash that myth before it becomes another internet fact.

I never said for sure that that's what it was. I figured it was either the single shot injectors or the mechanical fuel pump that made them idle the way they do because those are the two major differences between the OBS and Superduty 7.3. Not having an intercooler or a different size turbo won't affect idle so it may be in the tuning.
