Same here with temps. Here is some moral support from farther north. Stay warm!!

Stay warm up there you northerners...

Smoked pork butt that I pull apart just before serving to be pulled pork. It has a dry rub on it that is different every time, but tastes great each time. I would get a picture of it, but I wrapped it in foil around 0700 for stage 2 of the cooking process. I normally will smoke them for 10-12 hours, but since the temperature is cooler now, I opted for about 16 hours. Low and slow is the key with a heavy smoke session directly to the meat of choice during phase 1 of the cooking process.

If I remember, I will try to snap a picture or two when preparing for dinner.

Currently 18° at my house, 6-8" of snow with 2ft drifts. Stupid me got so busy doing other things I forgot 1 above ground line to the garden and it decided to burst last night. All the pipes in the basement rattled pretty good when it bust, but thankfully it has a separate shut off and the house has water again.

So, tonight I'll be headed to town for parts. At least it's above ground.

There’s something to be said about PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE rather than playing catch up when something breaks and leaves you stranded.

Start ups is how a lot of people came here. Don't knock it. Search is not easy for those that aren't good at it. I welcome them all. Mine to has always started at zero with good glow plugs. When I did plug it in was when my relay went out and I didn't think it was bad. It clicked, but until you get there, I thought it was working.

I got here when I was trying to figure out why mine wouldn't go into 4x4 low. I got to the root of it. Mine didn't like to start much when it got cold but when I converted to 99.5+ parts I also swapped in a Denso style starter and now it starts good in the winter. Changing the starter isn't the cheapest option but it's a problem more often that people realize.

Agreed on both....I might be harder than some though. Here is why. When I got here, I looked at the top at the big letters that said "stickies" and saw that there was a wealth of information. Now I realize some people may not want to read and know about their truck. They just want it to work and that's it, but me, I want to know. Heck, some people have even admitted they are too lazy to read and just want the answer. I ignore those. It may be dickheaded of me, but I work too hard to understand my stuff and be as self-sufficient as possible. I get the learning curve, I really do. We have all been there....But when someone isn't willing to learn at least a little bit, it's lost on me.

No pictures of the smoked pork butt, I had to fight them off just to get it served...

Was so tender, was like butter though...

Looking to do another one within the next week or so, will try to get a picture then.

I found the FTE because we knew we wanted a 7.3 with a ZF6 in the extended/super cab body style. I wanted to learn and know as much as I could about the truck before purchase. Well, lucky for me the truck was a gem after some regular maintenance items and the clutch issue and we have been frequent fliers of the FTE ever since.

Great community, great friends, great companionship, great laughs and great advice all in one place. Like an online version of Cheers. (well, the 7.3 and Excursion section anyway, some of the others can get quite catty)

I found my way to FTE because I had just purchased my current F250 -- my first diesel -- and I knew nothing about diesels aside from the 7.3's great reputation. Being very DIY-minded in all aspects, I had to figure out how to take care of the kinds of stuff I had never worked on. The crowd here has been absolutely awesome.
