Yes, a garge/shop is a lifesaver in these climates. I have mine set up with a bullet heater that gets turned on 30 minutes before I do any work in winter. Doing ball joints and front end work this past week was bearable with that and good lighting.

All of this winter talk reminds me of when I re-sealed my oil cooler a couple of years ago and that's when I found out where my block heater cord plug was at. I contemplated getting a new element since I was pulling everything apart and the truck was 13 years old at the time. When I pulled the cooler off, the heater element looked brand new.
My truck was a local truck which is one of the reasons I was interested in it. The original owner bought and used the truck here in the area and I'm the second owner. I've never plugged the truck in so there's a good chance the block heater has never been used on my truck.

20° here on my homestead this morning. My truck sits outside and mostly doesn't get plugged in, thankfully because I'm home office'd. If we do look like we'll be getting a good amount of snow I pull my truck into my shop/barn. I'm thinking my cord needs to be replaced and my element is fine, it ohms out good.
TGIF!
Busy weekend ahead. Horse auction tomorrow, we'll see if I have to come home and get the trailer. Hoping to get my bushings put in. Then keep tearing down my wifes car to see if I can find the problem.
